Customs & traditional events
The people of Gersau are adventurous. We are proud of our customs and cultivate our traditions throughout the year. So there's always something going on in Gersau!
Regularly recurring events:
Summer
1 June - 28 September 2025
Lake stage concerts
For four months, almost 30 concerts are organised on our lakeside stage directly on the lake. Folk music bands tend to perform on Sundays at 10.30 am. In July and August, however, you can also listen to all kinds of styles on Friday and/or Saturday evenings at 8 pm.
Enjoy the wonderful view of the lake and mountains, listen to the music and sip coffee or an aperitif from the pub.

Art in the park
20 & 21 June 2025
Party boat
Various Nauen rides (Nauen = barge) with different styles of music and after-parties in the village offer something for everyone. A village festival for young and old, from Ländler to techno.
Our Nauen "Republik" sails a few times from the Wehri across the clear waters of Lake Lucerne, each time with new guests and a different style of music.
Throughout the year, "Chilbi Gersau" organises events in various areas. For example:
- Mini golf tournament 10.08.2024
- Funky Friday 28.06.2024

Seenachtsfest
A warm summer evening, a balmy breeze from the lake and the cosy get-together with locals and guests lift the mood.
Various bands, a children's carousel and a bouncy castle as well as a wide range of culinary delights make this an unforgettable event for young and old!
Advance tickets are available from the Gersau Tourism Information Centre, Dorflädeli Gersau, Guitar Store Manea and Sonja's Blumenboutique. The event is organised by the Röllizunft.

StradivariFEST
The StradivariFEST Gersau is a tradition and a firm institution in the last week of July. Concerts take place on the lake, in the magnificent church, in splendid hotel halls, next to and in cosy chapels, at breathtaking vantage points and on graceful ships, because the focus is on "playing" special spaces.

The St Martin's Market is one of Gersau's most traditional events. Every year on St Martin's Day (11.11.), or the Saturday before, the centre of the village of Gersau is transformed into a veritable shopping and attraction mile.
Various market stalls await the visitors, which are organised by the various associations, companies and private individuals with a lot of passion.
In the evening, various bars and party venues offer a night full of dancing and joie de vivre.
Winter
1 - 5 December 2024
Chlausentrycheln
The Chlausentrycheln is the most impressive tradition in Gersau. It is not a staged event, but a living custom that touches the soul during this mystical time. Every evening, the Trychler and Iffelen procession moves through the dark streets in a meditative rhythm. You can either enjoy the deep sound of the large bells and the dancing lights of the Iffelen at home, or you can stand at the side of the road and experience the vibrations at close quarters.
5 - 7 December 2025
Gersau ChlausNights
The ChlausNächte take place every three years at Chlausen time and are unique throughout the region. The traditional event in a romantic setting lasts three days. There are two major Trychler and Iffelen parades, with the big Chlaus parade on Saturday being the highlight. The arrival of St Nicholas on the Nauen, which is decorated with Christmas trees, the romantic market in the park, the incoming sound of the Trycheln and the glow of the Iffelen provide an emotional celebration. The various inns invite you to celebrate and socialise during the dark period. Find out what the Chlausenschiff is all about, what Chlausäbättä is and what the Hoppiross does...

Carnival
The ladies' masks are certainly the main attraction at the Gersau carnival. Dressed in uniform costumes and elaborate headgear, they adorn the
1st carnival day. With their topical and original motifs, they first present themselves in front of the Old Town Hall and then bring a lot of cheerfulness and conviviality to the dance halls.
The Gersau carnival is characterised by the Rölli guild, the Gerfaz and the guild music. There is Morgenrott, Abendrott, a children's mask meeting and also the Guggenmusik "Gugelfuer" etc. On the 2nd day of carnival, small carnival music groups liven up the pubs.

In the afternoon, you can let your gaze wander over the beautiful Alpine panorama and ring in the apres-ski in a cosy atmosphere with old and new classics. Afterwards, a variety of DJs provide a huge load of electronic dance music.
